13 Sept (NucNet): Areva has signed a series of contracts in Germany for the delivery of more than 70 TN24E used fuel storage casks.
The company said the total value of the contracts was more than 200 million euros (265 million US dollars). It did not say which companies the contracts had been signed with.
TN24E casks are dedicated to the transportation and storage of used mixed oxide (MOX) nuclear fuel.
The German Federal Office for Radiation Protection recently approved the use of the TN24E, allowing a foreign company access, for the first time, to the market for used fuel management in Germany.
